The best leads for web design agencies are not companies that already have a site to redesign. They are local businesses that have loyal customers but no website at all: the need is obvious, there is no incumbent supplier, and the owner decides alone.
Why agencies struggle to find small business clients
Building that list by hand means opening listings one by one, checking that no site exists, copying a phone number and guessing an email. Half a day yields thirty prospects, some of which have already closed. That time is never billed, and it comes back every month.
Most lead databases do not help either. They describe companies through registry data or people through professional networking profiles, not the corner bakery or the self-employed plumber. Yet those are exactly the businesses that buy a one-page site, a quote form or online booking, and France and Belgium have hundreds of thousands of them.

How it works for your agency
- 1Filter your niche
Pick a trade and a city, tick no website, set a minimum rating and require a phone number. Searching is free.
- 2Unlock the best ones
One credit per business with a phone or email, never charged twice. Export to CSV or work straight from the CRM.
- 3Reach out and follow up
Call, email or drop by with a mockup, log every outcome, schedule the next step until the quote is signed.
An example campaign
Illustrative example: the fictional studio Pixelbrique filters plumbers, electricians and hair salons in Lyon with no website and a rating of 4 stars or more. It unlocks 150 records, builds a quick homepage mockup for the 40 most promising ones and makes around 120 calls over three weeks. A plausible outcome: 15 to 25 meetings and 4 to 8 websites sold, most with a monthly maintenance plan. Real results depend on your offer and your pitch.
How to pitch businesses without a website, trade by trade
A plumber, a hairdresser and a restaurant owner do not buy a website for the same reasons. Tailoring the first sentence to the trade makes all the difference: talk about their daily problem, never about your tech stack. These are the angles that work best with small businesses in France and Belgium that are still offline.
| Trade | What they care about | Opening line |
|---|---|---|
| Plumber, heating engineer | Being found in an emergency, getting clear quote requests | "When someone nearby searches for an emergency plumber, they find competitors with a website. I can fix that in two weeks." |
| Builder, carpenter | Showing past jobs, looking reliable | "Your customers recommend you, but people who don't know you yet have no photos of your work to look at." |
| Hair or beauty salon | A full diary, fewer calls during appointments | "Your clients rate you highly. With online booking they can take a slot even while you are busy with scissors in hand." |
| Restaurant | Up-to-date menu, correct hours, bookings | "Lots of guests look up your menu before they come. A simple page with the menu and booking saves them calling during service." |
| Car repair garage | Trust, indicative prices, appointments | "A page listing your services with a booking form reassures drivers who pass your garage but have never used it." |
| Bakery | Cake and platter orders, opening hours | "An order form for birthday cakes brings back sales you currently lose on the phone." |
Show a mockup before you talk about price. An owner who sees their business name on a real page buys the idea instantly, while a written project description leaves them cold. Ten minutes on a reusable template is enough.
Mistakes web agencies make with lead lists
- Going too broad. "Every business in Lyon" is an unworkable list. One trade, one city, a minimum rating: 100 to 200 prospects you can genuinely work in a month.
- Ignoring activity signals. A business with three old reviews may have closed or have no budget. Start with the best-rated ones: they have a reputation to protect and customers to convert.
- Sending generic emails. "We build modern, mobile-friendly websites" speaks to nobody. Mention a real fact: their rating, their review count, the fact that they cannot be found online.
- Giving up after one call. Many meetings are booked on the second or third attempt. When nobody answers, the CRM schedules a call-back for the next working day, so make sure you keep it.
- Selling a site with no follow-on. Many tradespeople prefer a simple monthly plan (hosting, updates, small edits) to one big quote. That recurring revenue is also what keeps an agency profitable.
- Contacting people who already said no. Flag them "do not contact" or add them to the exclusion list: they disappear from your searches and nobody on the team calls them again by mistake.
- Pitching in the wrong language. If you prospect France or Belgium from abroad, write in French. The AI writer drafts messages in French or English, so you do not need to translate by hand.
What it costs your agency
Each unlocked prospect costs one credit, and only if it has a phone or an email. A list of 500 businesses without a website is therefore about 500 credits: the €49 pack contains 2,000, enough for four campaigns of that size. The €149 pack brings the cost down to roughly €0.015 per contact. No subscription, and credits never expire.
You start with 25 free credits at sign-up, no card required, and your whole team shares one account, with an optional monthly credit cap per person. If both the phone and the email on a record turn out to be wrong, the credit is refunded on request. See pricing.

ReadHow do I find businesses without a website?
In the Prospya search, choose a trade and a city, then tick the no website filter. Add a minimum rating and require a phone number so you only keep active businesses you can actually reach. Search and filters are free; you only spend one credit per record you unlock, and only when that record has a phone number or an email address.
Where does the data come from?
From public sources: online maps, business directories, the businesses’ own websites and their public social profiles. Records are cross-checked and cleaned, technical addresses are removed, and each email’s domain is checked to make sure it receives mail. The database only contains businesses, never private individuals, so you are always contacting a professional about a professional offer.
Is it legal to cold email or call these businesses?
In France, emailing a business’s generic address or calling its business number about an offer related to its activity is allowed, as long as you identify yourself and include a simple unsubscribe option in every email. Named addresses fall under GDPR. Belgian rules are close. For large campaigns, have your approach checked by a lawyer. This is not legal advice.
Can several people at my agency use the same account?
Yes. Up to 10 people share credits and the CRM at no extra cost. Each person sees their own prospects, calls and stats, and you can set a monthly credit cap per person. A record already unlocked by a colleague costs nothing for anyone else on the team, so nobody pays twice for the same lead.
Can I export leads to my own CRM?
Yes, as a CSV that works with Excel, Google Sheets, HubSpot, Pipedrive, Brevo or Lemlist, or through the REST API. You can also enrich a list you already have with CSV enrichment, and use the exclusion list to hide businesses you have already contacted so they never get a second cold message by mistake.
How can a web design agency get clients fast?
Pick one segment, for example plumbers or hair salons in one city, filter the well-rated businesses with no website and unlock about a hundred records. Build a quick mockup for the most promising ones and call mid-morning. A short list worked with dated follow-ups books more meetings in two weeks than a large list blasted by email, and it costs a fraction of the time.
