A business database for France is only useful to a salesperson if it answers one simple question: which businesses of this trade are in this city, and how do I reach them? Prospya lists 944,117 shops, restaurants, tradespeople and local services across France and Belgium, in 31,578 cities, each with its phone, email, website, Instagram account, Google rating and review count.
What the business database contains
Each record describes an establishment, meaning a place you can walk into, call or order from: a restaurant, a hair salon, a bakery, a garage, a plumber. The fields are the ones you need to prospect, not those of a legal file.
| Field | Content | Use |
|---|---|---|
| Name and trade | The trading name and one of the database categories (restaurant, hair salon, plumbing…) | Target one trade precisely |
| Address | Street, postcode, city, region | Plan a route, target an area |
| Phone | The number the business publishes | Call the owner directly |
| The published address, with its domain checked to receive mail | Campaigns and written follow-ups | |
| Website | The site’s address, or the fact there is none | Spot a need, personalise the opening line |
| The business’s public account | DM prospecting, social media agencies | |
| Rating and reviews | Google rating and number of reviews | Gauge activity and reputation |
Data comes from public sources: online maps, business directories, the businesses’ own websites and their public social profiles. It is cross-checked and cleaned: duplicates merged, technical addresses and third-party emails removed. The database holds businesses only, never private individuals, and does not include owner names.
Shops, restaurants, tradespeople, beauty, hospitality, health, services: the businesses executive databases ignore.
The number the business shows publicly, the one that rings at the counter or on site.
Syntax and domain checked to receive mail; a verified email filter is available.
Filter the businesses that have no website yet, or only those that have one.
Excel, Google Sheets, HubSpot, Pipedrive, Brevo, Lemlist, or the REST API.
Track every business you contact without leaving the database.
List of businesses by city
Almost every search starts with a city. Type a city name alone to see every business there, or add a trade for a targeted company list. Here is what the database holds in the main cities it covers.
| City | Businesses | With phone | With email | No website |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Paris | 45,381 | 43,087 | 24,626 | 19% |
| Lyon | 10,598 | 9,908 | 5,825 | 17% |
| Marseille | 11,226 | 10,342 | 5,576 | 30% |
| Toulouse | 7,161 | 6,780 | 3,921 | 18% |
| Bordeaux | 6,089 | 5,698 | 3,449 | 22% |
| Nantes | 4,339 | 4,030 | 2,435 | 19% |
| Lille | 4,192 | 3,845 | 2,251 | 24% |
| Liège | 3,563 | 3,456 | 2,209 | 29% |
| Antwerp | 8,400 | 8,114 | 5,313 | 21% |
| Ghent | 5,605 | 5,433 | 3,544 | 16% |
Figures are computed live from the database and update automatically. In Belgium, coverage is strong for restaurants, cafés, shops and salons and weaker for construction trades; details are in our Belgium business database article. Each trade also has its own page with figures by city: see all trades.
Filter beyond the city
A list of businesses by city becomes really useful once you narrow it. The free filters: trade, region, minimum Google rating, review count, has phone, has email, verified email, has Instagram, with or without website, and “only new businesses” to hide what you already contacted. Search also understands plain phrases, such as “restaurant lille with email” or “garage toulouse no website”.
Business directory, registry or company list: what is the difference?
Three things often get mixed up. Each answers a different need, and the right one depends on what you plan to do with the list.
| Source | What you find there | What is missing for prospecting |
|---|---|---|
| Official company registry | Registration number, legal form, executives, founding date, head office | The shop’s phone and email, often the actual address of the establishment |
| Online business directory | Listings to browse one by one, sometimes with a phone | No export, no fine filters, no tracking |
| Purchased company list | A fixed list delivered once | Data ages, emails often unchecked, no updates |
| Prospya | Establishments with phone, email, website, Instagram and reviews, filterable and exportable | No executives or registration numbers, France and Belgium only |
If your need is legal or financial (checking a company, finding its director), the official registry is the right source. If your need is commercial (calling, emailing or visiting shops), you need a database of establishments with their public contact details. Our guide to buying a B2B lead list in France explains how to judge a list before paying.
Who uses a database of local businesses
A database of establishments serves every company that sells to small shops and tradespeople. A few typical uses:
- Web agencies and freelancers: spot well-rated businesses with no website and offer them a simple site or online booking.
- Software vendors: point of sale, booking, loyalty, appointment tools; target one trade across several cities.
- Suppliers and wholesalers: cover a territory with its restaurants, cafés, hotels or bakeries, and plan field reps’ routes.
- Marketing agencies and social media managers: target businesses that have an Instagram account, or those that do not.
- B2B service providers: insurance, accounting, energy, telecoms, prospecting the small businesses of an area.
In every case the logic is the same: a narrow segment, reliable contact details, a message tailored to the trade. For the method, read our guide on how to prospect local businesses.
Get a company list in three steps
- 1Filter for free
City, trade, region and contact filters: the number of businesses and a preview of the records appear without paying anything.
- 2Unlock your selection
One credit per business with a phone or an email; records with neither are free, and none is ever charged twice.
- 3Export or work in place
Download a CSV for your own tool, or reach out straight from Prospya: calls, email campaigns, CRM.
Complete a list you already have
Do you have a list of customers or prospects with no emails, or only phone numbers? The “Complete a file” feature takes a CSV of phones, emails or websites: Prospya finds the matching businesses and sends their records back. You only pay one credit per record found. See complete a file.
Illustrative example: a wholesaler wants to cover the Lille area. It filters restaurants, bakeries and hotels in Lille, Roubaix and Tourcoing that have a phone, and gets a few hundred businesses. It unlocks 400, exports them to its CRM for its two field reps, and keeps the rest for the next quarter. Real volumes depend on the area and trades you choose.
How much does a company list cost?
There is no subscription: one credit per record unlocked. A list of 400 businesses therefore costs about 400 credits, covered by the €49 pack (2,000 credits). The packs: €9 for 250 credits, €49 for 2,000, €149 for 10,000, about €0.015 per record at the largest volume. Credits never expire, and signing up gives you 25 credits with no card. If both the phone and the email of a record are wrong, the credit is refunded on request. A free sample CSV shows the exact format before you buy anything.

ReadWhere can I find a free business database for France?
Official registries can be searched for free, but they give legal information rather than commercial contact details. With Prospya, searching the whole database is free: you see the number of businesses and a preview of the records for each trade and city, and signing up gives you 25 credits to unlock your first records.
How do I get a list of businesses in a city?
In Prospya’s search, type the city name, then add a trade and filters if needed (phone, email, rating, with or without website). The list appears instantly. You then unlock the records you want, one credit per business with a phone or an email, and export them to CSV.
What is the difference between a business directory and a business database?
A directory is browsed one listing at a time, to find a specific business. A business database is filtered and exported to build a prospect list: every garage in a city, every restaurant without a website, every salon with an email. That second use is what sales prospecting needs.
How accurate is the data?
Records are cross-checked across several public sources and cleaned: duplicates merged, technical addresses removed, and each email domain checked to receive mail. No database is perfect, so if both the phone and the email of a record are wrong, the credit is refunded on request.
Is it legal to buy a company list in France?
Yes, as long as you use it within the rules. Generic company addresses (contact@, info@) are not personal data according to the French data protection authority, the CNIL; named addresses fall under the GDPR. When prospecting, identify yourself and offer an easy unsubscribe. This is not legal advice: see our GDPR guide to B2B cold outreach.
Does the database include company directors and registration numbers?
No. Prospya describes establishments and their public contact details: name, trade, address, phone, email, website, Instagram, rating and reviews. For directors and registration numbers, the official company registry is the right source. The two complement each other: the registry to check a company, Prospya to contact it.
