A business data API to search and unlock local businesses from your own tools
Search local businesses by trade, city, rating or available contact details, then fetch their emails and phone numbers from your CRM, your scripts or your AI agents. Same data and same credits as the website.
- 25 free credits
- No subscription
- Team CRM included
A business data API lets you query a database of companies from your own tools, without an interface or manual exports. The Prospya API gives access to local businesses in France and Belgium: you search for free by trade, city, region, rating or available contact details, then unlock the records you want to get their phone, email, website and Instagram, using the same credits as on the website.
Why a local business data API
Exporting a CSV now and then is fine for a one-off campaign. Once prospecting becomes a process, copy and paste becomes the bottleneck: a rep who has to leave the CRM to look for prospects, a qualification script waiting for a file, a marketing team that wants fresh lists every week. A leads API solves this: your tool asks the question, the database answers in JSON.
The best-known company data APIs are built on official registers (company numbers, directors, revenue) or on professional profiles of executives. They suit selling to head offices. To sell to a bakery, a hair salon or a garage, you need something else: the phone number and email the business publishes, its website, its Instagram, its Google rating and number of reviews. That is what the Prospya API returns.
Figures are computed live from the database and update automatically.
What the Prospya business data API does
The same filters as the website: trade, city, region, rating, reviews, phone, email, website, Instagram, or a plain-language phrase.
Up to 500 records per call, 1 credit per business with a phone or an email.
The balance is shared with your account and your team; a record already unlocked never costs again.
A key created in your account, sent in the header of every request.
Records unlocked through the API land in My leads, just like those from the website.
Plain JSON responses, easy to plug into a script, a no-code tool or an AI agent.
The three endpoints
The API has three endpoints, documented on the API page:
| Endpoint | Purpose | Cost |
|---|---|---|
| GET /api/v1/me | Your email and credit balance | Free |
| GET /api/v1/search | Search businesses, 25 results per page | Free |
| POST /api/v1/unlock | Unlock records by ID, up to 500 per call | 1 credit per business with a phone or an email |
There is no hidden extra endpoint and no API subscription: you simply use your credits.
Search: the same filters as the website
Search accepts category (trade), city, region, has_phone=1, has_email=1, has_instagram=1, has_website=0 or 1, rating_min, reviews_min, reviews_max and page. The q parameter also takes a plain phrase, such as "plumbers in lyon without website". Results give the name, trade, address, postcode, city, region, country, rating, number of reviews and which contact details exist, but not the contact details themselves until the record is unlocked.
GET /api/v1/search?category=plumber
&city=Lyon&has_email=1
Authorization: Bearer ld_your_key
The response gives the total number of results, the page and the list of records, each with its ID and an unlocked field.
Unlock: phone, email, website and Instagram
To get the contact details, send the list of IDs to unlock. Each business with a phone or an email costs one credit; records with neither are free, and a record already unlocked by you or your team is never charged twice.
POST /api/v1/unlock
Content-Type: application/json
{"ids": [1042, 1043]}
The response gives the credits spent, the remaining balance and the full records: phone, email, website and Instagram on top of the search fields. Errors are explicit: 401 for an invalid key, 402 when credits run out, 400 with no IDs, 403 when a team member's monthly cap is reached.
A leads API for your tools and AI agents
From your CRM or a no-code tool
A rep adds a city and a trade in your CRM; a no-code scenario calls the search, keeps well-rated businesses with an email, unlocks the first twenty and creates the contacts. Or, every Monday, a script fetches the new businesses in a region to feed a campaign. CSV export is still there for HubSpot, Pipedrive, Brevo or Lemlist if you prefer importing by hand.
Local business data for AI agents
AI assistants and agents that can call tools can use the API directly: one endpoint to search, one to unlock, one to check the balance. Describe the three calls to your agent, give it the key, and it can handle a request such as "find 30 hair salons in Nantes with an email and a good rating" by searching for free first, then unlocking only the records it keeps. Give the agent a simple rule (a maximum number of unlocks per task) and, if you work as a team, a monthly credit cap for the member who holds the key.
To enrich files continuously
If what you need is to complete a list you already have (phones, emails or websites), the Complete a file feature does it with no code, up to 5,000 rows per upload: see B2B data enrichment. The API is better suited to finding new businesses and unlocking them automatically.
What the API does not return
The database describes businesses, not people: there are no manager names, personal numbers or financial data, and coverage is limited to France and Belgium. If you need company register data or executives' profiles, a registry-based API or a people-data provider is a better fit; our Apollo alternatives for local businesses article explains the difference.
Get started with the API in three steps
- 1Create your key
Sign up, then open Account, API and create a key. It is shown only once: keep it in a secrets manager.
- 2Search for free
Call the search with your filters, check the number of results and pick the records to unlock.
- 3Unlock and connect
Send the IDs you kept, get the contact details as JSON and push them into your CRM, spreadsheet or agent.
Illustrative example: a fictional booking software vendor, Tablio, runs a script every Monday that searches restaurants in three cities with an email and at least 4 stars, keeps those not yet unlocked, unlocks 100 and adds them to its CRM at the To contact stage. Its reps call from the CRM; the search itself costs nothing. Real volumes depend on your target.
Good practices
- Search before you unlock: search is free, so use it to count and filter, then unlock only the records you need.
- Keep the IDs on your side: a record already unlocked comes back for free, but a local cache saves pointless calls.
- Never put the key in a browser or a public code repository. Resetting the account password revokes the key.
- Follow the prospecting rules: identify yourself, offer an unsubscribe option, keep a list of businesses not to contact again. Our guide to GDPR and B2B cold outreach in France sums up the essentials; it is not legal advice.
Business data API pricing
The API has no separate price: search and balance checks are free, and each business unlocked with a phone or an email costs one credit, as on the website. Packs: €9 for 250 credits, €49 for 2,000, €149 for 10,000, no subscription, and credits never expire. You get 25 free credits at sign-up, no card needed, enough to test your first calls. For larger volumes, contact us. See also pricing.
| Use | Example volume | Suitable pack |
|---|---|---|
| Integration test | A few dozen records | Free sign-up credits |
| Weekly feed for one city | 200 records a month | €9 for 250 credits |
| Several cities or trades | 1,000 to 2,000 records | €49 for 2,000 credits |
| Team or agency | Up to 10,000 records | €149 for 10,000 credits |
To understand the database behind the API, read the business database for France page; to track the prospects you unlock, the prospecting CRM; to call them, the cold calling software. Pages by audience: software vendors and marketing agencies.

ReadIs there an API to get business contact details?
Yes. The Prospya API returns local businesses in France and Belgium by trade, city or region, with their phone, email, website and Instagram once unlocked. Search is free; each record with a phone or an email costs one credit, just like on the website.
Which API should I use for B2B lead generation?
It depends on your target. To sell to large companies and their executives, an API built on registers or professional profiles fits better. To sell to shops, tradespeople, restaurants or salons, an API that returns their public business contact details, like Prospya's, is more direct.
Is the Prospya API free?
Search and balance checks are free. Only unlocking costs: one credit per business with a phone or an email, never charged twice. The 25 free credits at sign-up let you test the integration without a card, and there is no API subscription.
How do I authenticate with the API?
Create a key in Account, then API, and send it in the Authorization header of every request, as "Bearer" followed by the key. It is shown only once, and we keep only a fingerprint of it. Resetting the account password revokes it.
Can I use the API with an AI agent?
Yes. An agent that can call tools can use the three endpoints: search for free, unlock the records it keeps, check the balance. Limit the number of unlocks per task in its instructions and, in a team, set a monthly credit cap for the member who holds the key.
What are the API limits?
Search returns 25 results per page, up to page 200, and unlock accepts up to 500 IDs per call. The database covers France and Belgium and describes businesses, not people: no manager names. For larger volumes, contact us.
